Every year I put together some version of a holiday gift guide, and this time I wanted to try something different. Instead of curating it myself, I asked you all on Instagram to drop your favorite local small businesses in the comments… and WOW. You showed up.
This entire guide was built by you – your go-tos, your hidden gems, your neighborhood favorites, the places you swear by and want more people to know about. Women-owned, BIPOC-owned, queer-owned, hyper-local, utterly Portland… all of it.
Some of these are businesses I already love, some are brand-new to me, and all of them were shouted out by this community. Consider this your crowdsourced Portland shopping list for 2025.

The Bottom Line: Shop Local, Ask Questions, Be Kind
And that’s the list – created by all of you. There is so much talent in this city, and this guide barely scratches the surface, but it’s a pretty incredible place to start.
A few reminders as you’re shopping:
- If you don’t see gift cards listed, ASK! Small businesses often offer them, they just do not always have a fancy landing page.
- Be patient and kind. A lot of these shops are one or two-person teams doing everything themselves.
- Do a quick check of hours, pop-ups, and shipping deadlines before you go. Schedules move around this time of year.
Most importantly: if you’re able, trade even ONE big-box purchase this season for a local one. It makes a bigger difference than you think. If you have more recs, keep them coming. I’ll keep updating the list, and I love discovering new Portland favorites right alongside you.
